Though a relatively ‘young’ music festival, the Winchester Chamber Music Festival has a lavish programme of chamber music and song, which has developed a respectable reputation. The event presented by Britain’s most spirited and versatile chamber groups, the London Bridge Ensemble, entices and inspires people of all ages. It was founded by pianist Daniel Tong in 2005 and worked to a huge success, allowing the launch of the Winchester Chamber Music Festival in 2008. The ensemble is put together by blending various influences and uniting high calibre with unfamiliar, yet rewarding pieces. The intimate encounter takes place at the Winchester Discovery Centre, with a determined goal of amplifying music culture through professional artists in the talent-embracing environment of Winchester. The Festival offers free tickets for 8-22 year olds for the six concerts in addition to a masterclass for talented local musicians, outreach work with local schools and pre-concert talks.
