Organised every five years by the Finnish Cultural Foundation since 1984, it is one of the leading international competitions intended for talented young singers. Participants are required to perform a broad repertoire (Baroque music, Lied, opera), including a song composed by Finnish composer. Previous winners include mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča and bass René Pape. To promote the warm team spirit, international competitors will be offered free family accommodation in the Helsinki region.
