First established in 1987, the competition has gained high esteem for its broad and intense musical demands. Violinists are required to perform music from the early Baroque to avant-garde repertoire. In addition to the top three prizes, special awards are also given to the best interpretation of a chamber music work and contemporary compositions of the 20th century. Successful contestants will be awarded with concerts engagements and CD productions. Previous prize winners include Isabelle Faust, Lena Neudauer and Benjamin Schmid.
