Organized by Wigmore Hall since 2010 (formerly The London International String Quartet Competition), the event is recognised as one of most prestigious quartet competitions in the world. Held triennially at the Wigmore Hall, a leading concert venue for chamber music, it aims at offering young and passionate quartets the opportunity to advance their career development. Contestants will perform repertoire from classical, romantic and contemporary composers in front of experienced jurors drawn from chamber music artists of global stature. Former jury members include Sylvia Rosenberg, Barry Shiffman and Peter Cropper. Selected quartets will be awarded funded residency at the Banff Centre in Canada, recital engagements, and performance opportunities around Europe.
