Launched in 2010, the festival is established to honour the memory of the Russian cello virtuoso, both as a great musician and an ardent champion of human rights. With Olga Rostropovich, daughter of Maestro Rostropovich, as the Artistic Director, international conductors, orchestras and musicians are invited to perform during the week. Previous guest performers include Zubin Mehta, Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica.
